Introduction
This guide is intended to help Harvard students and faculty find periodical articles on, largely, European, Classical and Near Eastern archaeology. The HOLLIS Catalog does not include periodical articles. Articles are found via periodical indexes. This guide lists electronic and print periodical indexes for archaeology. The index of first resort for archaeology is usually DYABOLA. There are many other indexes, some print and some electronic, which are more specialized and/or cover the earlier literature. Online resources are available through Harvard Libraries (Harvard ID and PIN required) unless otherwise indicated.

Nestor: Bibliography of Aegean Prehistory and Related areas (1957-99) is an international bibliography of Aegean, eastern Mediterranean and southeastern European prehistory, Homeric society, Indo-European linguistics, and related fields. The Aegean and neighboring areas, including Greece, Italy, Sicily, the Balkans, the Cyclades, Anatolia, the Levant, and Egypt are covered. The chronological range is Paleolithic through the Early Iron Age. The Nestor bibliographical database includes literature from 1957 to 1995. There are currently more than 34,000 entries. It is searchable by the text in the titles of the books, articles, journals, author names, and by publication dates. There is a separate book review file.
